Liam Hemsworth Speaks Up About Same-Sex Marriage in Australia

Australian actor Liam Hemsworth has put his two cents worth out into the open about Australia's same-sex marriage vote, saying: "Let's not be silly about this."

In case you somehow missed the obvious accent off the movie screens or have been living under a rock, you should know that actor and 27 year-old partner of Miley Cyrus, is a fellow Australian.

Making his name on Australian beloved soap Neighbours, Liam Hemsworth keeps a strong link to his home country through family and charity work, despite living in America with Miley Cyrus.

Illustrating that he hasn't lost his roots, Liam Hemsworth used his Instagram account to publicly comment on the upcoming vote on same-sex marriage in Australia.

He expressed through social media that he thought marriage equality shouldn't even be up for debate, since it is a basic right for people to be able to love equally, no matter what. He then urged his Australian followers to vote for marriage equality.

In his Instagram post he stated:

"I personally do not believe that same sex marriage should come down to a vote. I believe it's a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender. To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same sex marriage. Let's not be silly about this. Vote YES for same sex marriage in Australia."

The non-binding same-sex marriage vote will be used by the parliament to inform them on how Australians as a country stand on same-sex marriage before they make any legal laws.

Hopefully his Aussies followers will take his advice!
