A recent survey by ABS's youth broadcaster Triple J quizzed 11,000 Australians between 18 to 29 about all the trends, concerns and issues facing young people of today.
One conclusion drawn was that "young Aussies love sending nudes." Although it was clear that this sexting wasn't always consensual. 23% of the men surveyed had received unsolicited explicit images whilst women were twice as likely to receive an uninvited illustration with 56% receiving unsolicited images.

So why do men send dick pics? Apparently because they think it's sexy. Women who discuss sex on social media often end up with a full inbox of purple eggplant emojis, as their openness can be misinterpreted as an invitation. Others say that it is the shock of the unsuspecting member in messenger that senders get a kick out of.
The purpose of the survey wasn't to suggest that sexting was a bad thing, as it's often a saving grace for those in long distance relationships. Many women were sending nude pics as well, the main difference was that they were solicited. This correlated with 78% of men saying they'd never got an image they didn't or weren't interested in.
'The Courier Mail' recently interviewed a few young Aussies about their thoughts or experience with sexting. One discussed the social pressures teenagers face to send nudes, indicative of blackmail.
"Some people say if you don't send it I'll tell people this, or I'll spread rumours about you."
Another also talked about the revenge potential that sexts provide post breakup. "It's when they breakup or something and they get a bit over the top with it and they start sending messages to someone else, or start talking behind someone's back."
The same interview suggested that young Australians are unaware that sexting is illegal to those under the age of 18. Sending or receiving nude images involving a minor can register someone as a child sex offender.
The general consensus is that dick pics, pecker polaroid's or any unsolicited manhood modelling is simply unwanted, and sexting should be kept between those in agreeance!
