Our in-house sex educator Emma recently spoke to Janhavi at ReNews about how to be a respectful flatmate when it comes to sex and sex toys in a shared living situation.

With home ownership at record lows in recent years, renters are finding themselves sharing their home with others for longer but that doesn’t mean that they can’t have a healthy and satisfying sex live. They may just need to be a bit more discreet about it.

Here’s Emma’s tips for good sex etiquette in a flat:

• Minimise noise
• Figure out how to talk to your flatmates about sex
• Be open to feedback
• Keep sex toys and products out of sight
• Be extra considerate if you’re bringing different people to the flat
