The picture gives the illusion that it looks big, but it's really small in reality. Think of a fat middle finger's width and length, and double the length of the finger, but not the width. It was quite a disappointment in that regard - a waste of $18.95 for me personally. I guess I should have read that it's truly for beginners - and I do mean beginners - as it's very small - and you'll want something small when first starting out, with plenty of lube, as you don't want it to be painful in any way. The toy itself is flexible, and not as firm/stiff as I would have imagined it to be. If you're not used to using larger dildo's, it would certainly be great as a 'starter', to ease into anal, but as for me, it was a waste of money as it was too small. It would be great for straight guys who are curious or experimenting with anal toys - you don't have to be gay to try anal stuff, after all, men have a P spot (prostate) that can be stimulated, so anal toys aren't just for gay men. It would be a great starter toy for someone trying anal, and with experience, move up in size to more realistic and firmer toys.
