We had a bit of trouble with this - the only way to turn this off and on was to unscrew the device to disconnect the batteries as the on/off button didn't work, then it stopped working during. It is hard to keep it exactly in place, and if it slips the pointed edge digs into her.
The adjustable strings were the main reason we bought this and very effective, stayed in place and did not strangle him!
